Armchair BEA: Day 2

Hi there!  It's day two of Armchair BEA and I had a good time stopping by and saying hello to some of my friends yesterday. I didn't get around to as many as I would have liked, this is a way to say hello to friends and make new ones, after all. Today, I hope will be better and I'll get around to say hello to more bloggers. Thanks to everyone who stopped in for a visit yesterday, it was nice to see you.

Today's topic Best of 2011 asks that we share our favorite books of the year, so far. Here're mine!

So far this year, these six have been my favorites. That said, I've recently gotten a whole lot of books from NetGalley (currently reading The Goddess Test), so who knows. I would really have liked to add The Girl with the Steel Corset to that list, but I felt like it was good, but not good enough--If you're interested, check out my review.  As a matter of fact, I've reviewed all of these books, here're the links...
Right now, it's a short list. I've read a lot over the first four months or so of the year, but most of it was for school and nothing I'd qualify as a fav. Mostly, just American Southern novels (Eudora Welty, William Faulkner, etc) and critical composition pedagogy. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite the thing I'd put here. So, since school's been out over the last few weeks, and I've had time, I've been devouring books left and right. The Vampire stories, I read during the semester, I read the other three last week.

I was going to list some upcoming books I'm interested in, but I think I'll leave it at this. I'm certain my lists of favorites will grow as I read books like Die for Me, Enclave, and Divergent. For now, I'm off to say hello to others who're Armchairing this week. Cheers!

    Oh man, so much love for the Hunger Games. I didn't like Mockingjay quite as much as the first two, but I still did like it. Suzanne Collins is a genius, I swear.

    I hope you like 'Divergent'! I enjoyed 'Enclave' as well, though it's definitely not a favourite.

    I think I may be the only person left who hasn't read Hunger Games! =) I'm officially adding to my list for summer reading.

    I love Welty and Faulkner, as well. Do you also like Flannery O'Conner? She's my favorite of the Southern gothic writers. Thanks!

    Ashley, Hunger Games was amazing! I thought Mockingjay was much slower than the other two, but I enjoyed it still. Cannot wait for the movies!

    Miss GOP, I do enjoy O'Connor. I had a grad class this last semester on the Southern Novel and we read Wise Blood, do you know it? We also did Welty's The Optimist's Daughter, Faulkner's Absalom, Absalom!, Robert Penn Warren's All the King's Men, Walker Percy's The Moviegoer, and Cormack McCarthy's Suttree. It was a really interesting class!

    Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I LOVED The Hunger Games too! What do you think of the movie? From the cast it seems like it'll be good... but I'm always nervous about movies of my fav books. ~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte

    Jen, I think the movie is going to be awesome and that's much more hopeful than I usually am. I really worried about the casting, Jennifer Lawrence didn't look like Katniss to me. Now that I've seen them work their magic on her, I think she's perfect. I just hope the other choices prove to be equally good!

    I too have the Hunger Games trilogy on my fav list. I loved those books so much! Colleen Gleason's books look interesting, I think I will keep an eye for those.

    I have not read any of those books, but I know I really need to read the Hunger Games. The vampire ones look great!

    And yes, our lists will grow with Divergent, Enclave, and Die For Me o)

    I totally agree about the Hunger Games Trilogy! It was amazing. Love it.

    I've never read the other three! I've seen them around, but I wasn't sure if I'd like them or not. I might just have to pick one up and see!
